Sunamp develops, manufactures and sells compact, highly efficient advanced thermal storage technology called heat batteries that can be used to store heat and cold for a number of applications.
Sunamp batteries are based on Phase Change Materials (PCMs) that have high energy and power densities and yet are non-toxic, environmentally friendly and safe.
Our thermal batteries help reduce emissions and improve air quality and address vehicle thermal management challenges such as engine and cabin warm up, catalytic converter temperature fluctuation and battery thermal conditioning and HVAC systems.

The challenge: idling for up to an hour to warm up a bus before leaving the depot. This increases local emissions and reduces fuel economy.
- Coolant waste heat (from previous drive) used as a thermal source for the Heat Battery.
- Rapidly pre-heat drive, lower and upper saloons.
- Cold soak test results indicate 30 minutes reduction in cabin warm up times, with engine idling.

We develop and manufacture our own PCMs
Sunamp Phase Change Materials (PCMs) are non-toxic, non-flammable and eco-friendly. They are patented in the UK and China, with patents pending in other countries. We have developed PCMs that operate at different melt and freeze temperatures to maximise system performance across a range of temperatures.
