The conference took a closer look at Scotland’s net zero capabilities, with Sunamp presenting thermal storage as a key component in decarbonisation.
Organised by the British Embassy and International Society for Energy Transition Studies, Scotland’s Net Zero Conference was held on 7 June 2023. We were invited to attend by Scottish Development International, along with other key players in Scotland’s net zero pathway.
The conference explored how both the UK and China can make bigger impacts on global carbon reduction through innovation and new technologies, creating economic opportunities for businesses, reducing reliance on imported fossil fuels, and increasing energy security.
Our business development manager in Beijing, Tianyue Li, presented on the role of thermal storage in decarbonisation and explained how Sunamp products use phase change materials for heating and cooling.
Tianyue also shared case studies from projects in China, the Netherlands and the UK showing our products in action. This included the Core 364 project which replaced gas boilers with compact heat batteries and integrated heat pumps in a social housing tower block.
In both China and the UK, there’s a need for industry to decarbonise while remaining competitive. The conference was a great opportunity for us to advocate for the role of thermal storage in the energy transition and industrial decarbonisation process.
