Heating and hot water for holiday homes and hot tubs

Paired with a heat pump for space heating, a Thermino can provide an instant hot water supply for hot tubs and lodges.

Forest Holidays installed Thermino heat batteries and Trianco ActivAir heat pumps in 12 cabins at their Strathyre site. Along with a projected £7,200 saving on electricity costs, the system gives peace of mind for staff as they can fill the hot tubs and still guarantee hot water supply to the cabins when guests arrive.

quote

“We did a bit of a case study prior to committing to this heating system and we figured out that we’d be able to save £600 a year on electric costs per cabin. For here, that means that we’re able to save £7,200 a year on electric, on just 12 cabins alone.”

David Coster, project manager, Forest Holidays

Enabling the switch from gas to electric

Switching from a gas combi boiler to a renewable heating system such as a heat pump or solar PV creates the need for hot water storage, but finding space for a traditional hot water cylinder is a challenge in most holiday homes.

The compact size of Thermino heat batteries overcomes this issue, while the lower power consumption compared to most electric showers or immersion heaters helps keep the electrical load below the 32A supply which is standard for most holiday park pitches.
