24 April 2025 – World-leading thermal storage manufacturer Sunamp has won two top awards in the MCEE New Product Competition. The competition is part of the MCEE Show, Canada’s largest trade show for the mechanical, plumbing, HVAC-R and electrical industry.
Sunamp’s compact and efficient Thermino heat batteries were recognised with the Best Product in Category award for Heating, hydronic air conditioning and domestic hot water equipment and components, and the overall Best Product in Show award against 87 other products.
The awards were accepted by Mario Marjanovic, VP of Sales & Business Development at Quebec-based Services Énergétiques RL (SERL).
Sunamp signed its first North American partner supply agreement with SERL in 2024, suppling Thermino heat batteries to work with electric flow boilers and heat pumps. The heat batteries are used to shift the peak load to hours of excess utility capacity by storing heat for domestic hot water and central heating.
“Winning these prestigious awards represents an exciting milestone for Thermino heat batteries in the North American market,” said Tom Sottile, Sunamp’s general manager for North America.
“We’re working with SERL on some game-changing projects, using Sunamp’s thermal storage solutions to decarbonise heating and hot water, provide important load-shifting capabilities, and help diversify the grid. We’re delighted to see this work being recognised by the wider industry.”
Mario Marjanovic added, “We are thrilled to receive these awards at the MCEE Show. Our collaboration with Sunamp has been instrumental in bringing cutting-edge thermal storage solutions to market, and we look forward to continuing our efforts to reduce carbon emissions and enhance energy efficiency across various applications in Quebec.”
Thermino heat batteries are the space-saving, low carbon alternative to domestic hot water cylinders. The heat batteries use Sunamp’s high-performance patented Plentigrade phase change material to store energy from a wide range of energy sources and release it as heat on demand.
The compact size of Thermino heat batteries makes it possible to install renewables in high-rise apartments where they wouldn’t otherwise fit, reducing carbon emissions and tackling fuel poverty. The systems can also provide a scalable thermal storage solution for commercial and industrial applications.
The MCEE Show takes place on 24 – 25 April 2025 at Palais des congrès de Montréal, bringing together 355 exhibitors and over 6,000 buyers and decision-makers from the industry.
