Thermino heat batteries are an ideal alternative to a hot water cylinder – they’re up to 4 times smaller than the equivalent cylinder, with lower heat losses, and compatible with a range of energy sources including heat pumps and solar. Becoming a Sunamp certified installer can help installers get ahead of the competition and use this world-leading technology to provide instant, high flow rate hot water for customers. Not only that, they’re easy to fit with minimum pipework and no annual maintenance required.
Make the most of the move to low carbon heat
The majority of homes in the UK have a gas combi boiler, which can provide heating and hot water without the need for a separate hot water cylinder. However, the tide is changing, with heat pumps needed in up to 80% of homes by 2050 to meet net zero targets. The UK heat pump market grew by around 40% last year, representing a strong business opportunity for installers.
To meet the growing demand for heat pumps, many more heat pump installers will be needed. Installers do face some challenges when looking to upskill, including the upfront cost of training and MCS certification, and the loss of potential earnings when completing training.
There are government incentives to help with this though, such as the UK Government’s Heat Training Grant which offers heating engineers £500 towards becoming a qualified heat pump installer and the Scottish Government’s MCS Certification Fund which covers 75% of an installer’s first year of certification fees.
As heat pumps don’t provide hot water, a separate hot water system is needed. It pays for installers to also be trained on sustainable, space-saving solutions such as Thermino thermal storage systems.
Choose a compact, easy to fit hot water solution
For installers completing heat pump training and looking for a complementary hot water system, or those looking to capitalise on the move towards low carbon heat without making the leap to installing heat pumps, there are many benefits of becoming a Sunamp certified installer.
Thermino batteries are quicker to install than a traditional hot water cylinder, with no need for ongoing maintenance. Their compact size frees up valuable storage space for customers and makes it possible to fit a heat pump even when there’s no room for a cylinder. With 25,000 systems already installed and demand growing, joining Sunamp’s network of certified installers is a smart move.
Existing certified installers speak highly of the efficiency of the systems, the ease of installation, and the service they’ve experienced from Sunamp. Allen H wrote on Trustpilot, “The build quality & reliability have always been excellent. Supply, delivery & aftercare have always been excellent too. Sunamp are my preferred heat battery supplier.”
Andy Robinson of Envirowarm also shared his experience, “What a great product the Sunamp is! We have been really impressed with the energy savings our customers have been able to achieve with it. The size of the unit makes it even easier to fit into a small space and it’s really simple to install.”
Upskill with free training
No mandatory qualifications are needed to install Thermino heat batteries, but free training is available for installers looking to become Sunamp certified. There are 3 training modules delivered across 2 90-minute sessions by trainers with practical experience of installing and specifying Sunamp products.
The modules cover an introduction to Plentigrade, the phase change material in Thermino batteries, the differences between a Thermino and a hot water cylinder, and the key health and safety considerations for installation. Installers will also learn the components, specification and operation, mechanical and electrical connections, and commissioning and fault finding for each Thermino model.
The training is delivered regularly online and is ideal for installers, specifiers, plumbers, building service engineers and facilities managers.
Get featured on the certified installer map
Sunamp’s certified installer map makes it easier for customers to find and contact an installer in their area. Once an installer has completed the free training, their first installation will be assessed by Sunamp’s technical team to make sure there are no issues.
After this assessment, installers can benefit from promotion through a free listing on Sunamp’s certified installer map, along with a merchandise pack and marketing materials to help promote their business and easily explain the benefits of Sunamp systems to customers.
Support is available throughout the process – Sunamp’s technical team are on hand for troubleshooting, and there are installation instructions and technical manuals available in the installer hub.
