Sunamp thermal storage products approved for Hydro Québec’s commercial and industrial rebates programme

Edinburgh, Scotland, 5 May 2026: Sunamp, a global leader in high performance thermal storage, today announced that its Thermino and Central Bank® Mini heat battery products have been formally approved for incentives under Hydro Québec’s Efficient Solutions Programme (OSE 6.0). This approval marks a significant milestone for the company, demonstrating that Sunamp’s phase change material (PCM) technology meets the performance and energy efficiency standards required for Québec’s flagship programme supporting commercial, institutional, industrial and process energy applications.

Hydro Québec’s OSE programme is the province’s primary mechanism for accelerating energy efficiency and electrification in non-residential buildings and operations. Inclusion confirms that Sunamp’s thermal storage systems deliver measurable, model verified electricity savings, an essential criterion for technologies supported under OSE 6.0.

The decision enables engineering firms, installers and developers across Québec to integrate Sunamp heat batteries into projects with the backing of provincial financial incentives. It also strengthens Sunamp’s position in the North American market at a time when organisations are seeking proven solutions to reduce peak demand, enhance heat pump performance and support decarbonisation strategies.

Maurizio Zaglio, Chief Commercial Officer at Sunamp said:
“This approval from Hydro Québec is an important validation of our technology and a major step forward for Sunamp in Canada. Having both Thermino® and Central Bank® Mini heat batteries recognised within the OSE 6.0 program shows that our products meet the performance, reliability and energy savings requirements for commercial and industrial incentives. I want to acknowledge the exceptional work that SERL has done to help bring our products into the program. Their commitment and persistence have been instrumental in achieving this milestone and it demonstrates to the market that our technology is proven, effective and ready for large scale deployment.”

Dr Maurizio Zaglio, chief commercial officer at Sunamp

Sunamp’s PCM heat batteries store thermal energy efficiently and compactly, enabling buildings and industrial sites to shift electrical load, reduce peak consumption and optimise heat pump operation. These capabilities align directly with Québec’s strategy to improve energy efficiency, electrify heating and reduce pressure on the grid.

With OSE 6.0 offering increased financial support for non-residential efficiency measures, Sunamp’s inclusion provides a new pathway for organisations across the province to deploy advanced thermal storage with reduced upfront cost.
